Viña is very similar to Valparaiso. They are actually two regions that are part of four in the northern coast of Chile. Despite being right next to each geographically. These two cities are very distinctly different. Valpo is much like a mini Rio de Janero with all the houses stacked upon each other with narrow streets winding up the cerros. Viña on the other hand is quite the opposite having a lot of more space between houses and the houses being more geared towards apartments rather than actual houses. One can tell that Viña is more tourist friendly off the bat too.
Unlike Valparaiso, Viña has a lot of beaches on its coast that attract a lot of tourists from all over the continent and world. I stayed at Viña del Mar with my host family my last weekend in Chile. It was a very relaxing time getting to know all the parts of Viña and relaxing on its beaches. Viña would ultimately take my heart as probably one of my most favorite places in Chile that I have been to. I would still some day like to travel to South to hike up the Andes, But that's for another time.
